Some critics have disapproved of the Wire Opera House – one of Brazil’s most distinctive theaters. It was built in a remarkable 75 days, transforming an abandoned quarry into a unique cultural space.

Constructed with steel tubing and a transparent roof, the Wire Opera House has a circular design and is surrounded by an artificial lake. Perhaps it’s this artificial aspect that bothers some conservative individuals.

Absolutely nonsensical! The entrance itself is grand: leading to the auditorium through a walkway over water. The structure hosts diverse artistic events and blends in with the landscape through its glass and tube construction.

The Wire Opera House is part of the Parque das Pedreiras – Park of the Quarries, which also includes the Paulo Leminski Cultural Centre showcasing the works and story of the poet and intellectual.

This theater was designed by architect Domingos Bongestabs, who also created UNILIVRE – The Independent University for the Environment. It offers a complete afternoon surrounded by the best of Paraná’s modern architecture!
